AutoLyrix

While running on your machine, AutoLyrix does three things: it detects the media player running on your computer; it detects the song played by the aforementioned media player; it automatically downloads the album art and the lyrics for the song you’re currently listening to. This sort of functionality is great for when you want to sing along but you don’t know the lyrics.

AutoLyrix is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac. The Windows installer is little over 1MB in size, so it won’t take long to download it. It won’t take long to install it either; just run the installer and quickly go through the instructions presented by the setup wizard. It must be mentioned here that AutoLyrix is also available as a portable version for Windows.

While AutoLyrix is running, you will see a yellow icon in the system tray. Click the icon and you will be presented with the AutoLyrix interface which presents album art in the window to the left and lyrics in the window to the right. Right click the system tray icon and you will be presented with a context menu that, among other things, allows you to easily access the Preferences menu.

AutoLyrix will detect just about any media player you may have. This includes iTunes, Winamp, VLC, RealPlayer, Songbird, and many more. After detecting the media player, AutoLyrix will look at the title of the song. Based on that it will look for and download the song’s lyrics and album art. If you want to, you can export the lyrics and album art.
